Get to know Dr. Jungwoo Han
Founded in 2016, River Podiatry is one of the leading providers in foot care for the Greater New York Metropolitan area. With offices in Pearl River, New York and Midland Park, New Jersey, our mission is to provide our patients with outstanding full-service foot care in a professional and comfortable environment. We strongly believe in explaining all treatment options to his patients and are educated in the most modern, minimally invasive procedures using the latest in treatment and technology.
Our team is led by Dr. Jungwoo Han, an experienced Foot and Ankle Surgeon who specializes in podiatric care. Here is what you should know about Dr. Jungwoo Han.
Dr. Jungwoo first immigrated to the US with his family in the late 1990’s from South Korea. Growing up, Dr Jungwoo’s first passion was music. As a classical singer, Dr. Jungwoo was accepted to La Guardia High School for Performing Arts, where he first met his wife, Dr. Liany Farinas-Han (Owner at Smiles by Bergen Dental). After graduating from La Guardia, Dr. Jungwoo applied to the top 5 conservatories in the US and was accepted to 4 of them with scholarship offers.
Dr. Jungwoo was also accepted as an “early acceptance” New England Conservatory (NEC). Since his sister was already a student at New England Conservatory (NEC) and was very happy with the school, Dr. Jungwoo decided to attend as well. Around the time of being accepted, Dr. Jungwoo Han was nominated for a scholarship funded by Jerry Seinfeld to La Guardia students. The scholarship provided paid for Dr. Jungwoo’s undergraduate education including room and board.
After completing his undergraduate, Dr. Jungwoo had offers from New England Conservatory (NEC) and Julliard to attend a Master’s program accompanied by scholarship offers. However, after much thought, he decided to pursue foot health and a career as a podiatrist as he felt it would be more rewarding and meaningful.
To fund his post-bachelor, pre-med program at New York College of Podiatric Medicine, Dr. Jungwoo taught part-time as a music teacher. After joining River Podiatry upon graduation, Dr. Jungwoo became Owner of the practice in 2016.
