How to Avoid Injuries While Wearing Flip-Flops
It’s the perfect weather to wear flip flops, so be mindful of the type of flip flops you’re wearing. Non-supportive flip-flops can cause a common foot injury called plantar fasciitis, an inflammation of tissue along the bottom of the heel and foot. This can lead to bunions, arthritis and heel spurs.
If your foot has abnormal pronation (the flattening of the foot with an inward rotation), this can cause more stress to the inside of the knee, which can lead to early deterioration of hip cartilage and lower back problems.
Here are some tips to avoid injuries:
Make sure they’re the right fit. Your toes and heels shouldn’t hang off the edge.
Don’t wear flip-flops to walk long distances, play sports, or do yard work.
Buy flip-flops that have support/cushion for your feet.
Find flip-flops that are made with a better quality material such soft leather as opposed to rubber.
